Trauma

Clinical Hypnotherapy is extremely effective for healing, and processing Trauma.

One of the reasons for that is that our Subconscious mind (the main focus of hypnotherapy) does not know the difference between what is real and what is imagined.

When we are traumatized we are in a certain state of hypnosis, meaning we become focused on one aspect of the experience rather than the whole experience. During a trauma that aspect imprints onto our nervous system.

For example, if you were traumatized in a car accident as a child where you felt alone, helpless and in danger, you likely registered that experience as quite scary. Perhaps your focus was on the sound of the impact, the look on the other passengers’ face, the sinking feeling in your stomach…You might have even created a core belief about having no control, and/or life being unsafe.

Using hypnosis we can go back to the accident experience in a safe and gentle way (dont worry, you won’t need to re-experience it) and change some of those perceptions – we could turn down the sound, or bring in a friendly face to be with you during the accident. We can also ‘rewind the tape’ and prepare your child- self so that she/he is not taken by surprise by the impact, or even bring in a large pillow to offset the impact of the crash. Any of these imagined resources can help in changing your experience of the accident. We are not changing the ACTUAL event of course, but we are transforming the way that the event is registered in your brain. It is this registered experience that is still creating the trauma symptoms after all, not the event that occurred 20, 30 or 40 years ago and is now long gone.

If you have a trauma that you would like to release and be free from, Hypnotherapy is a safe and gentle tool that can transform your experience and your life.
