What is EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy tool that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences (a trauma).

When our mind/body experiences a trauma a number of things take place: we register the sensory information that we received while being traumatized (sounds, sights, body sensations…), we create a negative core belief about ourselves (ie. ‘I am not good enough’), and we subconsciously create a coping tool to protect us from further pain (ie. ‘I will never let people get close to me’).

When we release the original trauma with the use of EMDR, Hypnotherapy or any other effective tool, we release all of the above so that we are no longer hooked into the trauma, or any previous triggers.

EMDR uses the tool of bilateral stimulation (moving the eyes from side to side, or alternating sound, tapping on either side of the body) to help connect the two hemispheres of the brain while recalling the event. This is a very powerful tool that can release and process trauma, restoring health and wellbeing to the client.

EMDR sessions are $140 per hour
