Stress at its core is the discrepancy between your perception of what you need to do, and what you can do! When what (you feel) you NEED to do is greater than what (you feel) you CAN do – you feel STRESS.
Let’s break it down:
Your perception of what you NEED to do –
We all have Subconscious beliefs that were created when were children. These include familial, generational and cultural values (such as the Super-Mom or the Tough Guy), and our beliefs about how we must relate to the world in order to belong (such as ‘I have to be perfect’, ‘vulnerability is weakness’, ‘failure is not an option’, ‘it’s not OK to say NO’).
These beliefs get reinforced throughout our lives by the people we choose to have around us (we choose the people that validate these beliefs), and by our environment (for example, the admiration we get the more diplomas we have can reinforce a belief about ‘I must be perfect’, or the power we get when we have a lot of money can reinforce the belief ‘I have to be in control’).
Your perception of what you CAN do –
Sometimes our perception of what we CAN do is realistic – there are only 24 hours in a day after all. But occasionally, our perception of what we CAN do has to do with our self-esteem. Our self-esteem is comprised of our Unconscious beliefs about ourselves, and the thoughts, feelings and body sensations that have become the habitual pattern of these beliefs.
Our work together will be twofold:
1.Uncovering and releasing the Unconscious beliefs regarding you capability, your responsibility and your worth.
2. Building a tool box of stress release and stress management techniques (both long- term and short- term) that will create resilience, flow and ease in your life.
