Did you know that when you are depressed you are already in a state of hypnosis? You are habitually focusing on certain negative aspects of your life experience and ignoring other aspects. Moreover, you are using habitual internal dialogues, imagery and other sensory stimulation to essentially prove or validate certain negative beliefs.
For example: when a friend cancels a plan, your internal dialogue may tell you that he cancelled because he doesn’t care about you (even though he said he was sick), an image will pop up of some things you’re not proud as proof of why you are unlovable, you might experience a sick feeling in your stomach, the sound of your dad telling you you’re not good enough,,,and on and on.
That right there is a habitual pattern. If you have enough of those – you will be depressed. With enough of those, anyone will be depressed!
